FML

Two days ago, I was substitute teaching for this 5th grade class and before lunch we went to the Library. As the children were busy finding their books, I noticed a young boy twirling and playing around w/ the end of his t-shirt sleeve and it appeared that he had placed his left arm inside his shirt. So I said to the boy, “Hey, stop messing around w/ your shirt, you’re gonna stretch it out. Now, stick your arm out!” The boy looked at me w/ odd amazement. After the Library affair, the boy and his friend approached me. His friend said, “Mr. Gonzales, he can’t stick out his arm look.” And the boy proceeded to show me that his left arm had been amputated from the elbow down. FML

Gonzales: A Battle Hardened Name

Definition: A patronymic name meaning "son of Gonzalo." The given name "Gonzalo" comes from the medieval name Gundisalvus, which was the Latin form of a Germanic name composed of the elements "gund," meaning "war" and "salv" which is of unknown meaning.

I’m pissed off about two things: peanut butter & white bread.

So it has been a very long time since I made a peanut butter & jelly sandwich. This morning, I ventured from my abode and battled the harsh, unrelenting environment at approximately seven in the morning. Dust and wind bounced off my face with great intensity. However, this did not prevent my endeavor; I finally made it to Ralphs with breath intact.

Preparing a peanut butter & jelly is a rigorous task. I just don't go into a grocery store & pick-up the first set of ingredients that capture my eye: there is a ritual involved.

First, I located the pure preservatives Knotts Berry Farm strawberry jelly and placed the object firmly into my plastic cart. With impending doom a distant thought, I walked through the gauntlet of coupons and uneven floors towards the other ingredients. After a prolonged duration, I painstakingly tried and failed to locate the peter pan peanut butter. No other peanut butter will suffice; the ingredients must be exact. Unfortunately, the company that once provided my specific peanut butter has ceased to produce the substance. In conjunction with this misfortune, wonder bread; a lifeless patron of sustenance, no longer sells their product in Southern California. In sum, I am left with only a third of the ingredients needed to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Must I sacrifice perfection for a paler version that will leave me empty and unsatiated?

O behold the folly of man! O behold the inhumanity! O behold the curious tragedy!

"The soul, being eternal, after death is like a caged bird that has been released. If it has been a long time in the body, and has become tame by many affairs and long habit, the soul will immediately take another body and once again become involved in the troubles of the world. The worst thing about old age is that the soul's memory of the other world grows dim, while at the same time its attachment to things of this world becomes so strong that the soul tends to retain the form that it had in the body. But that soul which remains only a short time within a body, until liberated by the higher powers, quickly recovers its fire and goes on to higher things."

How the Palin Effect Affects Adam J. Gonzales:

How the Palin Effect Affects Adam J. Gonzales:

I love America.

I love the fact that I have faith in our union, but I am terrified about the thought that we have made it this far with Palin and perhaps might refer to her as president one day. She is completely diametrically opposed to what progressive women really stand for. Her lies are becoming greater and greater. She is too broad in her rhetoric and is incapable of giving a straight answer when pressed with fairly simple questions such as foreign policy experience and what sort of reform she will bring to Washington. What is most alarming is her world view, a future doctrine that would bring us closer towards war with nations that are no longer located in the Middle East, but on the large eastern frontiers of Europe.

I’m just sick and tired of the whole thing. I’m sick and tired that the south is forever a republican stronghold, even when voting against their best interests furthers their escalation towards detriment. I’m sick and tired of people trying to take away reproductive rights from women when a portion of those opposed to abortion can't reproduce themselves. I’m sick and tired that people are once again willing to vote republican after the last eight years of hardship and misery. I’m sick and tired that racism lurks in the depths of men and women who can't vote for a man who is of mixed race, perhaps a person whose judgment can one day measure on par with Abraham Lincoln.

We live in a world were Russia is steadily becoming a cold war foe once again; an American financial crisis that is a once in a century event; a climate that for the first time in human history may cause the North Pole to be iceless this summer. And our answer to these disastrous events is a hockey mom from Alaska who holds no advance degrees, a person who will possibly be a heartbeat away from deciding major domestic and foreign policy issues that will affect the entire globe for several generations to come?

If these two end up becoming in power, we are going to be tied to the politics of a people in this country who believe in creationism, an unregulated market, overturning Roe vs. Wade, heavy talk and light diplomacy, distraction vs. discussing presidential issues, and shooting defenseless animals in helicopters for many years to come I’m afraid. This party of pale must not win. They are incapable of changing; incapable of moving with the times; incapable of separating their religion from politics. However, I do have faith in America and its people. They will eventually see the right path to take once the fog has settled.

Palin will be pressured to participate in more difficult interviews and this will continue to distort her image as a maverick reformer and political supernova. The McCain war machine can only spin her words so much to their advantage. Their limitations are beginning to surface as Obama prepares to take the field. The neutral media will further expose Palin for the incapable national politician she is and her intellectual limitations will cause her to lose footing during the vice presidential debates. Inevitably, her undoing will be herself, as the American people will begin to realize that her ideologies do not coalesce with their own.

We must stand affirm in our commitment to progress. We must stand affirm in our willingness to combat those who attempt to argue against our party with false truths and inaccuracies. We must stand affirm in our promise to ensure that future generations inhabit a world that is better than our own.

Many of you have already spoken with your political voice, now is the time to speak with your economic one.

Great strides have been made within the past several weeks. Senator Obama has captured the majority of pledged delegates thus far and is attracting undecided super delegates at a breakneck pace. However, the fight continues to wage forth.

Now is the time to pledge a donation for Barack Obama’s campaign. Regardless of thee amount, send what you feel is necessary for this brave and noble undertaking. With support from many individuals such as yourself, Senator Obama will be economically competitive against those who have already amassed tremendous capital from various lobbyists or political action committees.

During this most desperate hour, never have the stakes been so high. The eyes of the world are upon us. The fate of liberty loving people everywhere hangs in the balance between hope and prosperity or warfare and despair.

As individuals, we must take every measure to ensure that Senator Obama becomes the Democratic Party Nominee. Not only for ourselves, but for the future generations yet to come.
